Prenup: Mara & Elo

I realized that I haven’t really shared prenup shoots for the longest time, so to start it off let me share to you a prenup shoot we did last year for a couple that had gone viral on the internet – yes its Elo & Mara!

So I was briefed that Mara had some training with make up, so I assumed this client would be too picky or “maarte”. I thought to myself, she’d ask me to edit so many things with her make up. Upon seeing her, she was all sweet smiles but obviously checking my make up stuffs which is perfectly fine with me – this is how all women are right? but maybe she’s really picky? hmm.. At first I couldn’t really get her “kiliti” but Mara in all fairness gave me complete freedom with her make up and trusted me with all her looks for the prenup shoot despite the fact that prior to the prenup pictorial she had already booked a makeup artist for her wedding, Madge whom I can say Im all hands down to.

I would overhear her talking to Elo and realized how Mara is naturally sweet. Slowly as we were getting closer and closer to the final look, Mara would stop and look at herself in the mirror and say “ganda ko!” – that’s it! I held a big sigh of relief and was happy that she loved how I did her make up and how Marvz did her hair. Mara was not a snob at all. Not. She was actually such a sweetheart and to top it all – she was effortlessly beautiful.

She was like any other kikay girl, fun to be around once you click with her and you actually feel like you are doing all these girly stuffs with one of your girlfriend’s.

Glamorous and Chic Look

 This is the first look that I did for Mara and I remember Elo’s reaction when he saw Mara all glammed up. Elo on Mara “Napaka swerte ko namang nilalang” and he actually started to cry while Mara hugged him. Not knowing that I was also in tears and so are most of the people around us.

We finished late and we were all tired after the shoot. But working with Elo & Mara made it all worth it. Mara is actually one of the sweetest girl I know. She is appreciative with how Marvz and I did her make up. Elo is lucky to have Mara. Mara is lucky to have Elo.

Bride: Jake Yu – Chua

::: Paw + Jake :::

“Oh my god you look like Rap, you really look like Rap!” these were the words that came out from my mouth the moment I saw Jake. Jake & Paw’s wedding is an overdue post but it still feels like it was only a few days back when I did my bride’s make up because Jake ended up being a really good friend of mine throughout her whole wedding process.

I got to know Jake through Rap Yu who’s like family to me in the industry. He had been constantly doing most of my bridal head shots whenever needed and I have him to thank for for pushing me to his sister to do her bridal make up. When I met Jake for the first time, I must say I instantly felt a connection with her – well she completely looks like Rap whom I had known for years and it felt like I was doing Rap but a female version!

Doing her bridal make up was like at home to me since I was able to bond with Jake prior to the big day when we drove all the way to Thunderbird La Union for her prenup and some other occasions when she would drop by to the studio whenever me and Rap had some shoots and during her big day, Jake was the usual happy jolly girl she had always been. The first thing I saw in the hotel room was Jake’s stunning wedding gown by my favorite wedding couturier Cecilio Abad and I have to say, its really a masterpiece! All gowns that I saw from Cecilio that my bride’s wore had consistently gave that wow factor. And I know with the hair and make up I have envisioned for Jake and with her wearing this Cecilio Abad gown she’s going to be that perfect blushing bride.

Jake’s skin is already effortlessly flawless and since she’s the everyday plain jane type of girl I wanted to really glam her up for her wedding but not straying away from the timeless, classic, natural yet blushing bride I always always lean for. Neutral matte eyeshadows and a lipstick that’s closest to her natural lip color helped me in achieving the look I want for her.

I can’t help but scream “Ang ganda ganda mo achie! Ang hinhin mo lang tingnan!” and of course as Im always also OC with my bride’s hairstyle, I have to say Marvz did a very good job doing Jake’s hair and the rest of the entourage as well. Hair and make up goes together and should always blend well to achieve the bridal look you and your bride have in mind. Jake’s hair is naturally curly so doing a loose finger combed hairstyle really worked well with her hair structure. Oh and yes Im specific with what my bride will use for her hairpiece, I usually refrain from those typical bridal headpiece and suggest a certain headpiece for the bride and in this case, Cecilio Abad was the one who provided the bride’s headpiece and it was lovely. As you can see in the picture, the bride’s hair was colored and Im a little biased with getting a lighter hair color than one’s typical black hair especially if you are going for a loose upd o. Why? First of all lighter hair color makes you look younger and at the same time for this certain hairstyle, a hair with lighter shade with some highlights will make the style really pop out compared to if you have a dark black hair. I always suggest Alex Carbonell for the job, ever since I had my hair touched by him I have nothing but praises for Alex and his team. He’s the one who does the hair of Toni Gonzaga and Daphne Osena to name a few.

Im really happy that I have been part of Paw & Jake’s wedding and for the never ending faith and support of Rap, since day one he made me feel like I’am the only one he has in mind that can give that look to his sister and more than anything, I’am happy that I was able to deliver that. Working with their family was one of the lightest, happiest weddings I’ve done, it was full of laughter and love from everyone. Thank you Paw & Jake!
