Exude timeless elegance on your big day by incorporating a chevron pattern into your ensemble. This stylish pattern has been around since ancient times, but it still looks fresh and contemporary today. Chevron–with its edgy design–is a nice departure from plain straight lines, and offers a bold transformation to any affair.

To add the chevron pattern to your ensemble, go for attires with pointy patterns and intersecting lines. Skirts with uneven hemlines and bodices with jagged and zigzag lines are perfect yet non-literal representations of this stylish pattern.

For your makeup and accessories, soften the sharp chevron by using playful colors such as lavender and cerulean. These tones, when applied in cascading or alternate manner, emphasize the details of the pattern, and keep the lines from being overwhelming.

CHEVRON: BRIDAL GOWN

Bridal Looks Compiled

I’ve had a series of shoots mostly portrait shots of different bridal looks so I thought of compiling them all for you and putting it up on my blog to showcase my different interpretations of each and every look that I made. If you have been reading my blog you will know that my personal take on bridal make up is more on the conservative side. For me make up should enhance your looks and not completely change how you look like. Bridal make up should look timeless therefore your make up shall stand the test of time. Will my bridal shots look outdated 10-20 years from now?

I’ve had clients tell me “I want a simple make up for my bridal make up, super simple, so not much make up”. I think that’s always been a misconception with make up. People think clean, natural, fresh make up doesn’t take much make up to use. Well to tell you the truth that’s really not how it is. Gone are the days when one’s bridal make up look flawless on photos but looks too thick, fake or even give you that “espasol” look in person. Today bridal make up should flawlessly look both on photos and in person and in that case your make up artist’s keen eye & light hands should come in.

Bridal make up is not easy. Bridal make up takes proper training and a lot of experience. We bridal make up artists needs to make the bride look picture perfect yet making sure her make up looks natural and flawless in person. We need to cover all imperfections and make your make up last long for the whole event yet make it look like the bride only have “light make up”.

Here are some of my personal takes with bridal make up:

The Classic Bride

My personal favorite is the classic bride. May you be morena, mestiza or chinita, the classic look applies for everyone. This make up look never goes out of style though in this picture I added a little twist since I made her skin on the dewy side (though most classic bridal looks that we do are on the matte side). Not everyone may be game for this kind of skin since some guests would think “The bride’s skin is oily” but a little dewiness on the skin can actually make one look more youthful. Wonder why La greta’s make up during events is on the dewy side? Spell youth!

ImageThe Vintage Bride

Some brides have certain themes for their wedding but the most requested look that has a theme is the vintage bride. This look suits best with the fascinator type of veil instead of the longer ones. Red lips and winged eyes are the perfect combo for this. This bridal look for me is still on the classic side since the vintage look never really goes out of style anyways and had stand the test of time.

The Fresh Natural Bride

I had encountered bride’s who doesn’t like pink lipstick on them and also had bride’s who would personally request me for this shade. Yes, I maybe a little bias since pink is my favorite color but trust me when I say that a pink shade of lipstick can make you look fresh! For those that are not to keen with this kind of shade I always suggest trying it out first since there’s a wide range of pink shades that your make up artist can mix and create.

The Morena Bride

I just love the morena skin tone with how they register on camera. This is the time where I enjoy my palettes when Im doing this kind of skin type. For this picture I opted to use mostly earth tones on the bride and put the make up focus on her lips for that needed contrast.

Image

The Mestiza Bride

Here I showed two versions of the bride, a ceremony look and a reception look. I’ve had brides who tell me they want a classic look but wants more definition with the eyes and with their features and this is my interpretation on that. Its clean, sleek together with the hair but more emphasis on the eyes yet not making it on the smokey eyes side.

Image

The Playful Bride

This is the all in one version! The bigger photo shows you the natural, classic bridal make up while the two other pictures shows what the bride can do for her second look or vice versa. See how your make up, hairstyle and accessories do a lot with changing your bridal look.

Image

The Chinita Bride

For the chinita brides there’s usually one common request and that’s to make their eyes look bigger and this is the kind of bridal make up wherein Im more specific with the lashes. In my experience there’s not one lashes that suits all kinds of chinita eyes thus this is where our trusted trial make up comes in handy. To achieve bigger eyes this is where the blending of the lashes with the eyeliner and eyeshadows takes place and where the “smokey eye” effect is most in demand.

For the top picture this is my version of the chinita eyes but more on the natural side and the picture below is my version of the chinita bride for her reception and those that wants the smokey eyes.
